About Us

Janet M. Litwack, MS, RD, LDN worked for over four years as a dietitian in the WIC program at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.  While there, she gained valuable experience in general nutrition & lactation counseling. After WIC, Janet worked as a Clinical Dietitian for Holy Cross Hospital (HCH) in Silver Spring, MD where she honed her skills doing inpatient nutritional assessment, medical nutrition therapy & critical care nutrition intervention for about three years. Working at HCH afforded Janet the ability to work alongside physicians to craft specialized nutrition interventions for acutely & critically ill hospitalized patients. While working at HCH, Janet had the opportunity to run the Outpatient Nutrition Services office, which gave her the opportunity to focus on her passion of nutrition education, disease prevention counseling & outpatient medical nutrition therapy (MNT). Janet lead the Gestation Diabetes/ Glucose Intolerance classes for HCH’s outpatient OB clinic, took over the administrative duties of running a hospital-based outpatient nutrition program & counseled patients for a wide variety of nutrition-related needs. She currently owns and operates Greater Washington Dietetics, LLC.

Janet earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health and Nutrition Sciences in May 2001 from City University of New York’s Brooklyn College and a Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Nutrition through New York University in 2006. She completed her dietetic internship through NYU at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.

While in Brooklyn College, she was awarded the Pearl Gross Brickner scholarship for excellence in nutrition studies.  At NYU, she was invited to join the prestigious Kappa Omicron Nu national honors society for human sciences. She is an active member of the American Dietetic Association as well as the DC Metro Dietetic Association (DCMADA), ADA’s Nutrition Entrepreneurs & Women’s Nutrition dietetic practice groups.

Janet is a Registered Dietitian, Licensed to perform Medical Nutrition Therapy in the state of Maryland. She has a passion for helping people live healthier, happier lives through proper nutrition and believes in empowering her clients to do so by arming them with current, evidence-based nutrition research & individualized guidance.
